Have you ever been given a piece of advice you still use today? The thing is, everybody has advice to give and while some goes in one ear and out the other, some sticks with us; changes our life for the better. Maybe just a little. Maybe a lot.

I’ve been lucky and privileged to receive some life-changing advice over the years from friends, family, colleagues, role models, even strangers.
And so, Steepers, this month I’m sharing some of the best advice I have ever received while also inviting you to share your best words of wisdom. Now, more than ever, we need to be in this life together. Maybe one day my advice will help you out or yours will help another.
– “Don’t chase stress.” My sister always reminds me that stress cannot exist without my participation.
– “Life is like a donut, don’t stare at the hole.” As a Kwik Trip Glazer Donut fan, this one still speaks to me. While it’s easy to focus on what we don’t have, focus on the donut itself. What we DO have!
– “I regret all the time I wasted regretting.” Let that one sink in. I used to live by the motto, “You regret the things in life you don’t do.” Now, I work to let go of regret and truly believe I did the best I knew how to do at the time.
– “Things don’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.”

As a recovering perfectionist, still a work in progress, I offer these words to you. As I look back, my wedding day was stormy, my first house was constructed utilizing the wrong plans, and most holidays over the past two years were spent away from extended family members. Nevertheless, it has all been wonderful.
